Fall Collection 2012

hello!

We've been busy creatives in the Workshop for the past couple of months...so many wonderful things happening! We've reached (and exceeded) our 100th sale mark and we can't be more thankful to all of our loyal Woo Woo Fans. It's been a little over 4 months since our first sale and to have reached the 100th is humbling.

Every new season sparks a new collection of tags that we love to feature accordingly. Without further ado, I would like to introduce the Fall Collection . 2012

Summer Collection . 2012

This is just the start...keep your eyes peeled for more to come! ♥

What it means to be truly Handmade...

As I sit here at my computer with a great black and white film on TCM playing in the background (I often run old films while I work, GREAT inspiration) I'm thinking of the past week and all of the current mumbo jumbo going on with Etsy that I've read. There has recently been quite a bit of controversy surrounding "shops" that have infiltrated Etsy and their suspicious status as truly "Handmade." It's a shame and so sad.

The main reason I believe that so many true creatives who honor the art of Handmade get so upset about these recent events, is because Handmade is HARD work. Each creative who embraces the lifestyle whether it be full-time or part-time, finds it to be highly rewarding and self fulfilling on a level that is unlike any other. Reason being?; because every piece of work that you create and send out to your recipient, is truly a part of your soul. That may sound super cheesy, but, to me it's the dang truth. From concept to final product it's a journey that is shown through your work. Every inanimate object that you create blossoms into an object with a story, YOUR story.

That, my friends, is a big deal.

I profess myself to be a Handmade Artisan. I don't take that role lightly. It has been something that I've nurtured since I was a little girl. It's a large part of my personality. I envision my creative abilities as a strong energy that surrounds who I am and who I claim I am. It takes strong moral and ethical fundamentals to keep that energy in motion, to keep that energy creating and to keep that energy protected.

There really is a lot of room to complain about all of the false creatives that we're met with on a daily basis. One's that may order from wholesale companies and pass the work off as their own, or simply claim to make something that is blatantly obvious to be mass produced. The one's who matter, notice. US. It's the concept of holding strong to what we do and not letting the small number of fakes affect our creative visions. If we hold true to that vision, you realize that what you have is a gift. It can't be taken or erased by the fakes. However, it CAN be strengthened by them. The more I read of fakes, the harder I work. The more ideas that flow from my energy and into concept.

So, let's thank the fakes for making a stronger and more unified group. Thanks guys, you suck...but hey, thanks for making us work harder to honor the true craft.

Here's to true creative integrity and the goofs who won't ever know the sweet smell of TRUE success.

I wish you all a creative and inspirational weekend!

instagram, monkey love and giving back ♥

I was pleasantly surprised to find out yesterday that instagram is now available for android users. So, needless to say I've been a bit addicted since. I love photo editing , not only for our Woo Woo Tag photos, but for all of the everyday photos as well. I took this fantastic picture of our Lilly yesterday while she was sitting in the sun and then put some great effects on it through instagram.

Then I imported it into Pic Monkey and put even more cool effects on it and added the text. I have been plugging Pic Monkey for about a week now! It is the coolest photo editing site. No downloads, no registration, totally free and with all of that, packed with every photo effect you can imagine, great fonts, symbols, borders and so much more!

They also recently added the option of making collages that are all laid out for you...all you do is manipulate your photos, save 'em to your desktop and pop 'em in to the collage layout that you like. I made this fantastic collage using Pic Monkey for our FB page. The possibilities are endless! Try it out...and while you're at it, if you make a pretty pic in Pic Monkey of your furbaby - send it over to us at melissa@artsavvystudio.com and we'll feature him or her right here on the blog! ♥

we give back . 2012

Perfect opportunity for me to talk about how and why we've decided to give back to animal welfare movements both nationally and locally. Woo Woo Workshop and the creative life that it gives us, nurtures us in so many ways that if I were to list it, it would be a mile long. We love doing what we do. I truly believe dedicating our lives to art and animals is what we were born to do. So, we've decided to use Woo Woo Workshop as a fundraising tool and a portion of the yearly proceeds that Woo Woo Workshop acquires will be given to an animal charity of our choice. Each year the charity will be different and the decision made for which charity of the year will be decided upon on December 24th of each year.  Please feel free to give us your animal charity suggestions at any time from now until December 1st. We will surely take all suggestions into consideration!

It's Woo Woo Wednesday! ♥

hello!

Today is Woo Woo Wednesday...gosh, we love Wednesdays! We've been absolutely ecstatically overwhelmed with the reception of Woo Woo Workshop and all the love we've been receiving...we wanted to send out a ginormous THANK YOU to all who purchased from, liked, tweeted, treasured and pinned our little workshop! We've got nothin' but big love for ya...no doubt about it!

It's been almost a month since we opened the workshop and we're loving every minute of it. Personally, I find it absolutely wonderful to work side by side with your best friend. Freddy is truly THE BEST person to create with, brainstorm with...dream with. He's such a good guy...

On that note, we took Lilly for a hike recently at Wintergreen Gorge, here in Erie. It's a fairy tale kinda place...beautiful creeks, mossy trails, giant old trees that whisper in your ear when you're quietly walking through. Known as The Gorge, it's a fantastic place to sit by the creek bed, put your feet in the cool rushing water and chit chat. Here's a pic I snapped so you can get a feel of what it's like...

Wintergreen Gorge, Erie PA.

See what I mean, total fairy tale, right? Anyway, now that I've set the scene...we sat and brainstormed a few ideas and we came up with the first accessory to the workshop...

Find itI'm a keychain kinda chic and I really like ones that are lightweight and non-obtrusive. I wanted to design a keychain that fit with our shop and this is what we came up with. It's a really fantastic keychain, it's super heavy gauge aluminum, doubled up and wire wrapped with copper wire. It has the girth without the weight and clunkiness (is that a word? well, today it is!). Of course we can't forget to mention that it proclaims your unwavering love for your favorite furkid! Can I get a yay! on that? :)  Of course, you could certainly have us stamp it with anything your heart desires...unless, of course it's an excerpt from your favorite Shakespeare play or something, in which case we would have to make it super big and it would become obtrusive which defeats the vision. So, you get the idea...stick to your favorite breed of furkid... :) It's available in the shop now! ♥

We're getting super excited to launch our first giveaway! I mentioned it in the last post and since I tend to be a milestone marker, I want it to be launched on a particular date...so, stay tuned for that. It's coming soon!

Freddy will be starting Vet Tech Tuesday starting next week - May 29th - Be sure to pop in for his first post, he has some pretty great stuff lined up for you guys!

Be sure to check in at Woo Woo Pets at the top of the Blog - it's where you will find our first featured Woo Woo Pets...Rocky and Kodi! ♥

Special News and Stuff!

Wow, it's been a seriously exciting week! So many fun things happening in the workshop...and at the house, where our workshop resides, so actually...all of the excitement is happening in one place! :)

The best and greatest news for the week?; Freddy is done with school and is currently going through his first official week at a wonderful practice here in Erie, as a Vet Assistant/Tech! Yay! I'm seriously so super proud of him! It's exciting to watch your favorite person go through such a life changing experience. To completely change your career after 15 years and pursue a passion, uh, yea...it's a pretty big deal AND ridiculously inspiring. Who knew he looked so handsome in scrubs? ;)

He will be hosting a once-a-week blog feature titled: Vet Tech Tuesdays, where he'll talk about all kinds of stuff relating to your pets...fun facts, helpful tips on nutrition and health for your pet, and some of the exciting stuff a person in the animal field experiences...it's gonna be pretty cool, so make sure to check that out!

We have a big announcement involving woo woo workshop coming up next week! It will help to further broaden woo woo's business scope and enhance the meaning of why we created woo woo workshop...stay tuned for that, too!

We were busy in the workshop this past week...there are currently 10 new tags available in the shop! Four of them are featured to the left...we have some great new tag designs lined up, so stay tuned for those, too! ♥

Gift Certificates are now available in the Shop! You can receive them in either high resolution digital format or we can send out an actual hard copy to you or your gift recipient at no shipping cost to you! It's the perfect gift for the pet lovers in your life! Mother's Day is coming up on Sunday, there is still time to purchase and have the certificate sent directly to them via email. Yay for all the Mom's!! ♥

Perfect for Mother's Day! ♥

Just a quick reminder, anyone who purchases a woo woo tag - be sure to send your pet's pic to us sporting their woo woo tag to my email address - melissa@artsavvystudio.com - and we will feature your pet here on our blog and our facebook page.  We're really looking forward to seeing all of the pets loving their woo woo tags ♥

To get everyone started, here's a pic of Lilly modeling her woo woo tag....she was totally trying to ignore the camera I had in her face...little did she know her attempt at ignoring the camera was futile. Mwahhaaa... I still got a fantastic pic...

I BIG thanks to all of our new facebook fans and shop admirers that we've received this week. We love, love, love meeting new people...so, we're happy to see your smiling faces :)
